Dr. OZ Dishes On What’s The Right Protein Bar For You

Protein bars can often-times be glorified candy bars, so beware! Some of them can pack as much sugar and saturated fat than your favorite candy.  Dr. Oz comes to the rescue, and shares his protein bar rules and which maybe the right one for you!

 

Here are the rules when deciding on which protein bar to eat;

  1.  10g Protein or mote. 
  2.  Less than 15g if sugar.
  3.  Less than 4g saturated fat.
  4.  Under 350 calories.

 

Some protein bars don’t even contain protein! and others have more than your daily servings of sugar for the day. Make sure you are looking at the nutrition labels before you take a bite.

Now,  depending on what your goals are will determine which protein bar is right for you. Dr. OZ gives his advice on which one is right for you with 3 categories; Weight loss, energy, or just a snack.

 

Weight Loss;

If you are looking to lose weight, you will need some fiber in your bar of choice, to help you stay full longer without taking in a lot of calories. grams of fiber or more, and if you are not regular going to the bathroom, this will definitely help you out.

Quest bar – coconut 17g of fiber.

FiberOne – chocolate peanut butter, 9g of fiber.

 

Energy;

Need a pick me up, or some energy before you go on your run, choose a protein bar that has 20g of carbs in it. Read more

New Trend: Eyelash Tinting Can Cause Blindness!

Staying on top of the latest beauty trends can be a little tough, it seems like there is always something new; one week it’s eyelash extensions, now its eyelash tinting.

If your not hip to what eyelash tinting is, don’t feel bad. This is one beauty trend you may want to skip out on.  It can have some serious dangers. It sent one woman to the ER, thinking she may never be able to see again.

What exactly is Eyelash tinting?

Eyelash tinting is the process in which your eyelashes are dyed. It’s basically like having permanent mascara on. Dyed lashes enhance your eyes making them appear more noticeable.

However, the FDA states tha There is no dye on the market that is approved for eyelashes.  Putting any type of dye near, or around the eyes can cause blindness! Chemical burns can also occur on the skin around the eyes due to this tinting process. Hair follicles may not grow back as well, and you are at high risk of getting  a bacteria infection.

Dr. Oz, a well-known Surgeon and TV host says no one should ever get near your eyeballs with any dyes, tweezers or glue.

Both, eyelash tinting and eyelash extensions are illegal in New York and six other states, yet salons there still provide those services.

Here’s one womans horror story when her eyes were accidentally glued shut by a salon;

 “It was absolutely terrifying, I thought I was going blind. It was getting worse and worse–by Monday I couldn’t see anything and I couldn’t open my eyes at all. People said I looked like a monster. My eyes were really itchy and I looked like I had been crying.”

It took steroids, antibiotics and two weeks for this women to heal from this horror eyelash tinting experience.

A lot of women are going to great lengths to enhance their eyes with both eyelash tinting, and eyelash extensions without first considering the consequences.  Warning ladies! Ask yourselves, is it worth possibly compromising your eyesight over?

[Video] Michelle Obama To Release Hip Hop Album To Promote Her “Let’s Move!” Campaign

Who would have thought the First Lady would come out with a Hip Hop album? That’s right! But don’t get too excited, Mrs. Obama won’t be rapping on any tracks.

Although you will see her, along with her husband  President Obama making cameos in the videos, along with other famous singers and rappers.

The album is part of her “Let’s Move” campaign which she launched two years ago to help end child obesity in America.

Artists like Run DMC, Ashanti, Doug E. Fresh, Monifah, Ariana Grande, Travis Barker and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks are all contributing their vocal talents to the album, which is called “Songs for a Healthier America”.  Even America’s favorite doctor, Dr. OZ drops a couple bars with a healthy rhyme in the song called “Everybody” featuring Jordin Sparks. 

The album features tracks with names like “We Like Vegetables,” “Veggie Luv,” “Get Up Sit Up” and “U R What You Eat,” all designed to get kids thinking about health and diet. Ten music videos are set to be released with the album and will be distributed to schools in New York City, with other major cities to follow.

Eva Longoria Opens Up About Her Health & Her Kitchen

Ain’t that the truth!

Eva Longoria knows all about almost losing it all, after her devastating divorce from NBA player Tony Parker. The divorce caused her such a depression, that it had a serious impact on her health.

Paying a visit to the Dr. Oz show, Eva opened up about the health issues that she experienced during her split from her x husband.

“That’s probably the time I got the most compliments because I was so skinny..I was not eating, I was depressed, I was sad, I think my diet was coffee. People kept on saying “you look amazing, divorce agrees with you” and I was like I don’t feel good, I have no energy, I didn’t know I was depressed. I went to the doctor to get some blood test because I knew something was wrong. and I was just depleted of every vitamin. He (Eva’s doctor) said it was as if someone took a straw and sucked (every vitamin out). He said you don’t have any iron, your liver is overacting, all of these things were physically wrong with my body. So I had to saturate with vitamins, to kind of get back on track”

After getting her health back on board, she also wanted to help others nurture and take care of their health. She created a cook book called Eva’s Kitchen which she includes some healthy Mexican recipes. She says;

“Mexican food can get really healthy, I think it’s a myth that its unhealthy”

Check out her yummy Chilli Rubbed Skirt Steak Taco recipe below, where she recommends using corn tortillas instead of flour, lean meats and all fresh ingredients including vegetables.
