[Video] Biggest Loser Recap: Bye-Bye Jillian on “Opening Day”

Last night was the premiere of The Biggest Loser season 16. And it was a little bitter sweet for many, Super trainer and star of the show Jillian Michaels did not return this season. As one of the host on the official Biggest Loser recap show on Afterbuzz TV (you can check it out below ) it wasn’t the same without her there. But as the saying goes “the show must go on” .

And so it did. In Jillian’s place, the show welcomed two new trainers Jen and Jessie. Jen was definitely giving me Jillian Michaels vibes! She has almost everything down to the T; from her physique, her hair, her training style, and even her deep voice. Even Jessie reminded me of trainer Bob, with his clean cut, pretty boy look. I think after 16 seasons, the trainers including Jillian were getting burnt out. Bob decided he will still be part of the show part time, as a second chance trainer, for the contestants who get a second chance after first being eliminated from the show.

The theme of this season is called “Glory Days” in which 20 former athletes who were once at their prime were picked to help them get back their health and become fit again. The roster includes everyone from Superbowl champions, Wimbledon Champions, and more. This season also differs, because there are contestants as young as 18 competing against 50 year olds. I think what it boils down to is not the differences in age, weight, sports, etc. What it really boils down to is if that once an athlete always an athlete mentality can out and be proven on the show.

Fan favorites are already making noise on social media, but from this one episode alone, former NFL player Damien seems to be in the lead. His larger than life personality and physique already has people talking.

Returning trainer Dolvett definitely has a leg up on the new trainers, knowing how the show is laid out I have a feeling someone on his team will take home the cash prize!

Dolvett’s team won the first weigh in, losing 138lbs in total. Giving credit to team member Mike who lost a total of 38lbs in just one week, making him the first episodes biggest loser.
