Kate Middleton To Attend Sports Aid Athlete Workshop With Olympic Hopefuls

Kate Middleton sure knows fitness!

The Duchess Of Cambridge is patron of SportsAid, a charity assisting British athletes to reach their potential. On October 18th she will be attending the organization’s athletic workshop.

During the workshop she will watch athletes play different sports such a s wheelchair basketball, soccer, volleyball, fencing, and badminton.

The Duchess will also join athletes for educational workshops on nutrition. Good job Kate for keeping fitness a priority!

Naya Rivera and Big Sean Are Engaged!

Naya Rivera and Big Sean are officially married!  After six months of being a couple, the hot pair announced the big news this evening to E! News, and boy are we excited.  Not that Naya is not gorgeous enough, but we cannot wait to see what she does in order to get ready for the big day!

Naya is an advocate of eating healthy and working out. She explained to Fitperez; ‘Legs and butt get the most attention in the Cheerios uniform, so those are my target areas. Lots of squats,’ she continued. Planks are another go to exercise for Naya. 

We will be looking forward to seeing how Naya will be prepping physically for her big day.

64 Year old Swimmer Diana Nyad Swims From Cuba To Florida

While most people throw pool parties and have barbecues Labor Day weekend, Diana Nyad was too busy swimming from Cuba to Florida.  That’s right, she swam from Cuba to Florida just a couple weeks ago without a shark cage to protect her.  Diana attempted this venture four times before accomplishing it on her fifth.  It took her approximately 53 hours to accomplish this journey, not to mention she did this at the age of 64 years old. In an interview with the New York Times, Diana said,

“I have three messages. One is, we should never, ever give up. Two is, you’re never too old to chase your dream. Three is, it looks like a solitary sport, but it is a team.”

Even though Nyad seemed a little uneasy at times, doctors did not intervene.  She had multiple doctors follow her on a boat, but there was no immediate need from them to stop her.  This would have been her last time attempting this swim whether she completed this journey or not, and we are so glad she did!

Her inspiring swim has landed her an interview with Oprah that will are this Sunday for the series “Super Soul Sunday”. Tune into the OWN network October 6th at 11am to hear Diana explain her courageous swim.

Stars Who Have Lost Weight Thanks To Dancing With The Stars

New contestant Christina Millian went to Twitter to announce that the time and effort she puts in Dancing With The Stars is starting to pay off.  The star tweeted,

“I’ve already lost 7lbs since I started #dwts! Owww!”

Christina follows many other contestants who have lost weight by joining the show.  When Marie Osmond first joined the popular show she lost 31 pounds.  By the time the show finished she lost a total of 47 pounds! Kelly Osborne lost a total of 20 pounds on the show, while Chaz Bono lost over 65 pounds.  Kirstie Alley takes the lead though claiming she lost 100 pounds!

The Rock’s “Legendary” Cheat Day

We have all seen Dwayne Johnson a.k.a “The Rock” going hard in the gym, to prep for his once in a lifetime role as Hercules. Not only does he work hard, but he plays hard too. He recently took to social media to show off what a cheat day looks like, and after 150 days of eating clean (that’s 5 whole months) he sure does deserve it!

Miss America’s Trainer Dishes Great Advice To Drop Weight

Newly crowned Miss America Nina Davuluri’s weight-loss journey started with a coupon-spurred visit to trainer Tia Falcone’s gym before competing in the Miss Rochester pageant. Less than two years later, the beauty queen has lost over 50 pounds and is sporting an incredibly toned physique.

Check out the great food advice that our friends over at Fitsugar received from Nina’s  trainer Tia Falcone during a one on one interview:

 

Eat six equal meals a day: Tia says she doesn’t like to differentiate between meals and snacks, because of the differences in how we think about each. “What happens is [when] people think of breakfast, lunch, dinner, that connotes a big meal, which we don’t ever need, and then snack means popcorn or pretzels,” Tia explains. “There is no room for that kind of a thing. Each meal should be roughly the same size and roughly the same amount of calories, so you are [only] fueling your body with what it needs, otherwise you’re just going to store it.” A typical meal plan for Nina included egg whites with broccoli and a piece of whole-grain toast, low-fat cottage cheese with a salad topped with two tablespoons of light raspberry dressing, plain Greek yogurt with raspberries, a protein drink and piece of fruit, and salmon with a vegetable or a sweet potato. You should eat every two and a half hours.

Beware the bags and boxes: Clean eating means no processed foods, so steer clear of that freezer aisle when grocery shopping, Tia warns. “The less processed stuff you eat the better,  if it’s in a bag it’s probably not good for you, if it’s in a box then you know it’s really not good for you”.

Cut it out: Tia recommends her weight-loss clients also avoid all white foods, since they are also highly processed, and artificial sweeteners. Nina’s regimen was a lot more strict in the weeks leading up to her pageant — she also cut out all fats, condiments, alcohol, sodium, even salsa — but Tia doesn’t recommend this extreme approach. “She wanted to look her absolute best; it’s Miss America. I don’t generally put anyone on that strict of a regimen,” she warns.
